expansive co-curricular program,

Cattle Team

The Cattle Team is a Co-curricular activity where students break in and prepare both school stud cattle, school bred steers and donated steers and represent the College at local country agricultural shows such as, Blayney Show, Bathurst Show and the Sydney Royal Easter Show ‘Hoof and Hook Competition’.

The College normally takes around 20 steers to Sydney Royal Easter Show and we have been very successful over the years gaining many Grand Champions and Gold Medals along with Most Successful exhibitor.

Students work in pairs and are allocated an animal to work with. Mentors take on junior students to teach them the skills associated with working with and showing cattle.

Students work with cattle during Term 4 on Monday mornings from 7 am and then Monday and Wednesday mornings from 7 am during Term 1 of each year. They also participate in a feeding roster 7 days a week. Participants also learn the art of Junior Parading and Junior Judging.

This is a fantastic program for students from Year 8 to Year 12 led by the very experienced, teacher of Agriculture, Cattle Team and Equestrian Co-ordinator, Mrs Libby Dawes on the Scots Campus livestock and produce farm.
