New direct College private bus delivers greater choice in education for Lithgow region

Scots All Saints College today announced the expansion of its College private bus fleet to transport current and new students travelling from Lithgow and the surrounding district to its Bathurst campuses – All Saints Campus (Junior and Middle School – K-8) and Scots Campus (Senior School 9-12).

Arrangements are well underway to have the new Lithgow bus service available from the start of Term 3, commencing Tuesday, 21 July.

The College will purchase a new 57 seat Mercedes-Benz coach fitted with the latest safety features including Automatic Emergency Brake System and Lane Departure Warning System. Both systems provide the operator and passengers an increased level of safety. The whole Scots All Saints College community will benefit from the new coach which can be made available for excursions, camps and weekend representative sports matches.

Head of College, Mr John Weeks said: “Our new Lithgow to Bathurst College bus service will be a private, direct, safe and secure way for students to travel to and from our campuses each day without concern or needing to change buses on the way. The convenience, hassle-free journey will reduce travel time saving up to 30 minutes on public bus services which is a big advantage for students and greater peace of mind for our parents.”

“This decision is a direct result of popular demand and interest from families from across the region seeking a more affordable, family-focussed and indeed, a more community-minded all-round College of excellence for their children in the Central West. This presents a significant opportunity to continue to develop our College, ensuring we can create the best possible learning environment for our children to be inspired and motivated to be the best they can be,” he said.

Despite the challenges posed by coronavirus restrictions, Scots All Saints College has continued with its learning program relatively uninterrupted with the support of teachers, staff, parents and students working together. The College has proven it can adapt and be flexible to support its students with continuity of education, providing a safe, secure environment with two large campuses allowing students to ‘spread out’ and unrivalled spaces with two main campuses in Bathurst.

Mr Weeks said: “Our experience shows families and students are seeking schools with a top reputation, top academic results, diverse co-curricular opportunities and a supportive community learning environment to develop young people who are motivated to excel in all of their endeavours. Scots All Saints College delivers on all of this and provides a quality all-round education at a fraction of the cost of many other independent schools.”

“We are delighted to provide another option for quality education this side of the Blue Mountains. Scots All Saints continues to develop and grow with steady new enrolments over the past 6 months despite COVID-19.

“One of the main questions parents and carers ask is, ‘How will I get my child to school?’ Now the solution is simple with a direct, private, safe and secure bus service for our students from the Lithgow region. We also work with many local bus companies in and around Bathurst to bring students to our school so transport is easy for students seeking to join our College community,” Mr Weeks said.

While the bus timetable and route is being finalised, the new luxury coach will be available for students from the start of Term 3. It will service areas from around Lithgow to Bathurst including Wallerwang, Meadow Flat, Portland, Yetholme, Walang, Raglan with a direct, private route to Scots Campus and All Saints Campus in about 60 minutes with no change overs needed.

The new Lithgow to Bathurst College bus service complements other private College bus services already transporting students from Orange, Millthorpe, Blayney and surrounding villages to Scots All Saints College.
