Kindergarten Teacher (started in 2000)

It has been a great privilege to teach Pre-K and Kindergarten at Scots All Saints College over the past 20 years.

To engage students at the beginning of their lifelong journey of learning is so important. Building foundations to foster children’s inquiring minds and to motivate them to explore the world around and create a desire to learn is very rewarding. Seeing those “light bulb” moments when they learn a new concept or skill, start to read and write, or learn strategies to build friendships and become part of a group or team brings satisfaction.

Nurturing confidence in students to try new things, even difficult things, and embrace all areas of the curriculum is important. I have valued providing opportunities for students to explore their own beliefs and the Christian values our school embraces.

There is nothing more fulfilling for me as a teacher than to see students I have taught in Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten, find and develop their strengths and reach their full potential – whether that be in Public Speaking, Sport, Music or Agriculture.

To see these young adults that started with me on their learning journey become confident and ready to face an ever changing world and become kind and caring citizens – this to me is what teaching is all about.

Your mountain is waiting, so, get on your way!” Dr Seuss
