Mr Bruce Clydsdale

Bruce Clydsdale, as current Foundation President, has a long and distinguished association with education. Prior appointments were as Deputy at PLC Goulburn, Head of Social Sciences at Barker College and The Armidale School where he began his teaching career. After graduating from UNE, he was first employed in the CSIRO undertaking research in pasture insects.

35 years at All Saints’ College (1975-2010) as Deputy and Headmaster.

Mr Clysdale has a long and respected family history in education with his Great Aunt, Winifred West the founding Head of Frensham at Mittagong 1903. Winifred’s father, Charles West was head of Frensham Village School 1856-1884. Bruce’s Mother, Heather came out from England and completed her secondary education at Frensham.

His Great Grandfather, Thomas was given a government grant  40 pounds to establish a Provisional School at Tootool in 1886 (opened with 18 students) Thomas married Annie Apps. On the maternal family side, The Apps children attended Mrs Larges Wagga Presbyterian Ladies College featuring an in-College Musical Program (1872). Daniellena Apps was Dux of ‘Roseneath’ Presbyterian College Goulburn (1878).

On the paternal side, Thoma Gordon Clydsdale (Bruce’s Great Uncle) was Dux of Cooerwull Academy Lithgow in 1905 and studied Law at Sydney University. Played sport against All Saints’ College. Margaret Clydsdale (Bruce’s Great Aunt) was Dux of Linwood College Annandale in 1908. Taught Music at Meriden and other Eastern Suburbs schools.

Now as Foundation President, the family involvement in education continues.
