Cricket

Under 14s

After a very long and extended break, cricket returned to the field on Saturday. The Under 14’s took on Stannies at Stannies. Winning the toss, Charlie Rendall elected to bat considering how dewy the field was early in the morning. Charlie Crauford and Charlie Rendall opened the batting and started well, seeing off some good pace bowling early. Once they were set they started to score with both finding the boundary and moving the scores along. Indecision in running saw Charlie Crauford caught short and run out but he was happy with his positive start. Charlie Rendall continued to score freely whilst an extraordinary ball caught Seth Wilson off guard early in his innings removing his off stump. Tim Anderson came on scoring well with Charlie and the boys looked set. A very loose shot by Charlie saw him sky a ball for an easy outfield catch and Tim soon followed in a similar fashion. Clancy Harvey and Patrick Anderson showed some promise with their scoring hitting some big shots but the boys eventually were all out for 80.

With not much to defend, they took to the field positive and kept the Stannies run rate down. Charlie Rendall and Tim Anderson bowled well with not much luck as the Stannies openers saw out their new ball spell. Charlie Crauford eventually got the breakthrough with a fine caught behind taken by Seth Wilson. After drinks, Charlie Rendall went in to keeper and took a brilliant catch in front of first slip off the bowling of Patrick Anderson, who had a fine spell. Unfortunately, they did not have enough runs to defend and Stannies eventually made their score.

Basketball

Zeros V Future Champs
Final Score: 10 V 50
The girls started their match with enthusiasm and rigor. They dominated defensively and held our opponent to just one basket in the first quarter. We unfortunately could not buy a basket ourselves but have plenty of chances to take a lead. The next three quarters did not go our way. We were outplayed offensively. We continued sound defense but were unable to capitalize on multiple chances to score. We dominated the boards and secured many rebounds but again just did not manage to get the ball in the hoop. The girls demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and as usual finished the game with smiles on their faces. We will continue to work on our shooting.
Best Performances: Holly Stokes, Matilda Proctor, Montana Ardley.

Zeros V Goldminers
Final Score: 21 V 38
A huge turnaround this week after last week’s devastating loss. We bounced back with enthusiasm, commitment and determination. Our shooting was considerably better by everyone and our rebounding and scoring off the first possession was stellar to say the least. The girls brought their tenacity and heart and it showed on the schoolboard. Our best performance of the season against arguably the best team in the competition. Super proud of all the girls. Let’s keep up the great work for our remaining games.
Best Performances: Holly Stokes, Matilda Proctor, Lana Eastment, Grace Evans.
