Summer sport week 2 term 1

Cricket

U14s

It was a very hot morning for the 14s for their return to cricket but spirits were high. We decided on a shorter match with extra drinks breaks to get through. SASC won the toss and elected to bat. The boys did quite well, defending their wickets and batting sensibly, though with few scoring shots. It was good to see Joshua Kidd back batting, he did well until a mix up and run out cost him his wicket. Later in the innings Lewis Schoenmaker, Zane Newham and Jayden Spackman increased the run rate for a respectable 80 to end the short innings.

Bowling and fielding were strong as ever and it was a pleasure to see some catches taken with James Hillsdon bagging two and Charlie Hodges getting his first catch of the season, he was delighted. Paterson Abel bowled superbly and he showed how strong he has become as a bowler creating some genuine chances. The main attack bagged some wickets with Zane, Lachlan and Hugh all getting amongst the wickets. Alex kept well letting only a single bye through during the entire innings and this kept things tight. Rugby Union were able to get the target to win in the end.
