Amazing results in the Young Rural Achievers Awards

Bathurst Royal Show 2025 was in the first week back, Term 2 – a tight turnaround from Sydney Royal, so our first week back was very busy!

We exhibited three of our College-bred cows and calves, three young heifers, and five steers.

In the school classes, our animals dominated, taking out both Junior and Senior Champion and Reserve Champion females.

In the open classes, our College stud animals had to go up against two other studs. We were very excited when one of our oldest cows, Eltham Lisbeth (10 years old), took out the Grand Champion Limousin Female.

Many of our students won awards in both the Junior Paraders and Junior Judging.

In the junior paraders, our students again performed exceptionally well, and special mention to Milly Nevill, who came first in her heat. Isabella Irvine, Laura Moorhead, Eloise Oliver, Tara Matthews and Annabelle Webb took out third place in their heats, and Teagan Chapman, Grace Moore and Molly Ball placed fourth.

Special congratulations to Tara, Eloise and Molly as this is only their second event!

In the Junior Judging, the results were outstanding. Out of 20 students making the finals to do their oral speeches on their selections, there were seven Scots All Saints Students – congratulations to Fraser Wythes, Marcus Wythes, Chelsea Hall, Charli Raynolds, Molly Ball, Georgina Hewitt, Annabelle Webb and Laura Moorhead.

From these placings, Marcus Wythes placed second, Fraser Wythes and Annabelle Webb placed third, Georgina Hewitt and Charli Raynolds received Highly Commended awards.

A special congratulations to Chelsea Hall, who took out the Champion Junior Judge for the Under 15-year-old class – an exceptional achievement.

Fancy Dress has become one of the most competitive and exciting events – many of our students got ‘into’ it and really showed their creative side! We had boys in bikinis, steers in floaties, heifers in cardboard cars, steers in too toos and another heifer carrying handcuffs and guns!

Fraser Wythes, Marcus Stanley, Lachlan Hooper and Hugh Cleton, along with Grace Moore and Marcus Wythes, who worked with Stannies boys, all entered the Fitting Challenge. This means they have a time limit to get an animal ready for a class – they have to fully ‘fit’ the animal.

Fraser, Marcus, Lachlan and Hugh came out with a second, but as the judge said, it was very close between first and second! Well done boys!

On Sunday morning, we had our steer classes. All of the steers are destined for either EKKA or Scone later in the year. We won both the middleweight and heavyweight classes (actually took out the first three places in these classes) and were then awarded the Grand Champion Steer of Bathurst Show with a Square Meater Limousin crossbred by the Kirk family.

One of the highlights of the weekend was the amazing results in the Young Rural Achievers Awards. This involves the students submitting a resume and letter and then having an interview by a panel prior to the show.

It was lovely to have the team who run these awards come and tell me how amazing our students are and how hard it was to select the prize winners. The results were as follows:

Junior Girls
1st Georgina Webb
2nd Olvie Moppet
3rd Daisy Wykes

Intermediate Boys
3rd Marcus Stanley
HC Fraser Wythes
HC Hugh Cleton

Intermediate Girls
1st Matilda Penfold
3rd Annabelle Webb

Seniors
1st and Champion Isabella Irvine
2nd Marcus Wythes
3rd Teagan Chapman

Special thanks must go to Bruce Inwood for his support and to Heather Earney for being our bus driver for the weekend.
