At Scots All Saints College, learning comes from doing. Each student can follow their chosen pathway to a fulfilling education and co-curricular success. Lifelong friendships are forged between strong and connected young adults with the will to make a difference.
Many students find that connection and sense of purpose is strengthened through the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award (the Duke of Ed).Â
The Duke of Ed is the global leader in the organising and accrediting of non-formal education through its flagship ‘Duke of Ed Framework’. For over 60 years, this Framework has been used by education providers and community organisations to accredit the non-formal learning outcomes and achievements of young people.
Designed specifically for young people to develop confidence, self-discipline, respect and promote their spirit of adventure. The Duke of Ed Award program also instils the values of teamwork, initiative and moral courage.
The Duke of Ed Framework has three Levels including Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Each Level is made up of four Sections which include Physical Recreation, Skills, Voluntary Service, and an Adventurous Journey. At Gold Level, participants also complete a Gold Residential Project.
Duke of Ed - Year 9 Camp at Coolendel
Year 9 students at the College undertake the Adventurous Journey component of the Bronze Duke of Ed Award program through their Year 9 Camp. Students are encouraged and supported to complete all further steps in the Bronze level throughout the year, with opportunities to engage in Hope Church Soup Kitchen and other community programs for the Voluntary Service component.Â
