Battle of the Bands

Last Friday night, ten bands competed in the Battle of the Bands, with students from Years 7 to 12 showcasing a variety of music genres.

The performances ranged from folk and popular Taylor Swift songs to classic rock and even included an original song.

The judges, Mr van Gend, Ms Shanahan, and special guest judge Isabel Sargeant, had a tough time deciding but ultimately awarded “The Gavinites,” a Year 9/10 band, as the 2024 Battle of the Bands winner. Last year’s winner, “The Invisible Bees,” came in a close second, with “Ned & Ellie” taking third place. All the bands received fantastic feedback, making it a challenging decision.

The Year 12 students organised a fantastic event, complete with a sausage sizzle, popcorn, soft drinks, and lolly bags at the canteen. All donations went towards the Year 12 present for the school at the end of the year.

The students came together at the end of the night to sing a group song, strengthening their connections with each other and creating a tradition they hope will continue for future Battle of the Bands.

We thank and greatly appreciate the help from the College staff on the night and leading up to the event with set up and pack up, sound checks, canteen services, entry table and coming to support all the bands.

Philippa Webb, Benjamin Lloyd, Jake Henry, Lily Kable and Year 12
