Bonjour Bathurst’s exclusive behind-the-scenes visit to the French Embassy

The Bonjour Bathurst team recently had the incredible opportunity to visit the French Embassy in Canberra, and they were truly in their element. Representing the school with pride, the students engaged in a series of interviews with various Embassy staff, showcasing their language.

The team interviewed staff members from a variety of departments, including Education and Culture, Political Affairs, Science, and Economics. What made the experience even more impressive was that these interviews were conducted in both French and English, allowing the students to put their language learning into real-world practice. The students demonstrated their growing proficiency and confidence, effortlessly switching between languages as they discussed important topics with the Embassy’s experts.

However, the highlight of the day was their conversation with the French Ambassador himself, Pierre André Imbert. The students were excited to meet with him, and he was equally eager to meet with them.

The visit was a perfect example of how the Bonjour Bathurst program allows students to step outside the classroom and experience the French language and culture in a real-world context. Their visit to the Embassy wasn’t just about practising French; it was about engaging in meaningful conversations, building connections, and seeing how language can open doors to unique experiences.
