Canberra Show Big Wins

Four students recently represented the College at the Royal Canberra Show, held 21-23 February. Marcus Wythes (Year 11), Fraser Wythes (Year 9), Isabella Irvine (Year 12) and Milly Nevill (Year 12) took two of our Limousin steers with Phil Kirk, the breeder of these exceptional steers.

Royal Canberra Show is the first show these cattle have attended this year and we are incredibly excited by their results, with both participating in the Export class, we came away with a first and second in a large class. These cattle stood out as quality animals and were professionally paraded by Marcus and Fraser Wythes. S15, the steer paraded by Fraser and prepared back at school by Grace Moore (Year 12), then went on to take out Reserve Champion Steer of the show.

Junior Paraders was a significant competition with over 110  paraders entered. Marcus and Fraser both won their heats in the 15-16 year olds, with Marcus and Fraser taking out Champion and Reserve Champion 15-16 year old Parader, respectively.

Milly Nevill came second in her heat, going on to be awarded Reserve Champion Parader for the 17 year old classes.

All champions of each age group then went on to compete for the Grand Champion Parader of the show – a title which Marcus Wythes won.

Marcus has had tremendous success in paraders in the past 12 months and this has been due to his hard work and dedication. Congratulations to all.

Junior Judging

A large number of participants took part in the Junior Judging a the show. Again, Marcus Wythes’ results were exceptional, winning Champion for his age group then taking out the Grand Champion Junior Judge with the highest point score by far.

Finally, our students took part in the Qualifier Paraders competition for Royal Sydney Show. Isabella Irvine had a superb time and qualified which will see her represent the zone at Royal Sydney Show in the state finals.

Congratulations to all involved. These are remarkable achievements from a small team and their initiative has been inspiring.
