From Spotlight to Showstopper: Our First Musical Theatre Night Wows!

We are thrilled to celebrate the outstanding success of our inaugural Musical Theatre Night, a spectacular evening that shone a spotlight on the incredible talent and dedication of our students from Year 2 to Year 12.

Under the expert direction of Ms Rachel Bate, the night was a joyful celebration of music, movement, and storytelling, and a true testament to the vibrant creative spirit within our school.

The program featured a selection of iconic ensemble pieces from some of the world’s best-loved musicals, including high-energy performances from Hairspray, stirring harmonies from Les Misérables, and electric numbers from Hamilton, Legally Blonde, and Wicked. These large chorus numbers showcased the power of collaboration, with students delivering polished, high-impact performances that had the audience captivated from start to finish.

Adding to the magic of the evening was a delightful performance of “Naughty” from Matilda: The Musical by the Junior School Choir, directed by Mrs Donna Miller, who led our youngest performers with energy and enthusiasm. Their charming and confident presentation was a highlight of the night and demonstrated the strength of our music program from its earliest stages.

The night also featured a number of standout solo performances, allowing individual students to shine and demonstrate their vocal and dramatic skills with professionalism and flair. Whether it was the poised delivery of a heartfelt ballad or the comedic timing of a musical theatre classic, each soloist brought something unique and memorable to the stage.

A special part of the evening was the wonderful spirit of community that supported the event. Families generously contributed a delicious array of slow cooker curries, soups, and stews, creating a warm and inviting shared meal enjoyed by all before the show.

During intermission, the audience was treated to a buffet of desserts, slices, and cakes, lovingly provided by our school community. This collaboration added a festive and welcoming atmosphere that truly made the night one to remember.

This unforgettable evening is part of our broader and ever-growing Music Theatre Program, which continues to gain momentum. Following on from our successful production of High School Musical earlier this year, we look forward to the exciting announcement of our 2026 musical at MAD Night in Term 3 and the Junior School production of Aladdin in Term 4.

Congratulations to all students, staff, and families involved in bringing the Musical Theatre Night to life. It was an evening of joy, talent, and community spirit — and just the beginning of many more magical moments to come.
