The first Leadership Lunch for 2026 is coming up this Monday, and all parents and Senior School students are invited to come along to a free lunch in the Pavilion to hear from Emily Watts (Class of 2019) about her journey as an endurance athlete. You can register here if you are interested in attending.
While Saturday is looking like it might be a little damp, Evening Under the Stars is going ahead. If needed, we will relocate inside and still enjoy each other’s company along with the good food, refreshments and live entertainment that has been prepared for the night.
Congratulations to everyone involved in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory last weekend. I was blown away by the depth of talent which came together and know that students will have grown in a myriad of ways through this experience. Thank you to all staff, students and parents involved.
I am confident that Year 4 Camp this week at Galston Gorge will have also been a time of growth for students, and thank the staff who have been away with students over the last few nights.
Our first Cattle Team outing is this Saturday, and the cattle the College are taking look to be in fine form. If you have time on Saturday, do drop by and see the students in action. It is always a good day, and I look forward to seeing families out at the show.
As I write, we are exactly halfway through Term 1. I am thankful to the students, parents and staff for their efforts in the classroom, in co-curricular areas, on sporting fields and at home in everything that is being done to help our students learn and grow.
Over the weekend, I was thrilled to witness the incredible production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Congratulations to Ms Sargeant, Ms Bate, their supporting staff and the astonishingly talented and hard-working cast. The production was hugely entertaining. But from my point of view, I’m most pleased about the behind-the-scenes value of such a project. Students grow in confidence, build new relationships, learn the value of teamwork and develop resilience – all things that we care deeply about at the College.
Congratulations also to our summer sporting teams as they approach the end of their seasons, some having done so already. In loss or in victory, I trust that the season past has presented an opportunity to experience the same types of growth that I spoke of above.
Thank you to students and parents for the wonderful effort being made to ensure our uniform is being worn well. A number of staff have commented to me of late that our students are wearing their uniform with pride. At times, those requirements might seem arbitrary or senseless to students. Nonetheless, we know the importance of being unified in how we look as a visual representation that all students are equal and to be respected equally and that fairness means each person doing their part to uphold the rules.
Next week, NAPLAN testing will be held for students in Years 7 and 9 (along with Years 3 and 5 in the Junior School). Some students have enquired of me about the role these tests play. I’ve assured them that NAPLAN is a national assessment and diagnostic tool to give insight into how students are developing in their learning across the country. In other words, this is not an in-school assessment task that is ever reported on for individual students. I hope that all our students can approach their tests calmly and without fear.
I am looking forward to seeing the many parents at the Evening Under the Stars this Saturday night. If past events are anything to go by, it is sure to be a fantastic night. If you haven’t gotten your tickets yet, there are still some available.
Next week, we also welcome Emily Watts, a former student of the College and professional cyclist. I look forward to what Emily will share with students about her journey since her time here at the College.
Our Year 4 students are currently at the Cru Camp and Galston Gorge, having a great time. They return home tomorrow afternoon.
HICES Swimming Carnival
Good luck to our Junior School Swimming Team, who will be travelling down to the Sydney Aquatic Centre to compete in the HICES Swimming Carnival next Thursday 12 March.
Evening Under the Stars
Evening Under the Stars on Saturday 7 March (6:00 – 10:00 pm) is the main whole of College parent gathering for the year, and we would love to see a large number of parents present together on this evening. This will be on the Senior School Campus next to the Aikman Hall.
Children left unattended in Cars
It has been brought to my attention twice in the last week that children have been left in cars whilst their parents sign their child in at the Preparatory School. On one occasion, the car was left running, and the children were unrestrained in the car. This obviously poses a serious risk, and I do ask that parents not leave children alone in cars.
Traffic on Junior School Campus
Could I please ask that all parents and visitors adhere to the 15 km/h speed limit when driving on campus roads. Could people also take extra caution when driving near pedestrian crossings. Please wait for people to get completely over the road and off the crossing before you move your car.
Prep Banksia have had a wonderful start to the year. We have been making new friends, practising our fine motor skills, working on coordination and gross motor skills, investigating, dancing, singing, exploring the school and many other wonderful adventures.
Well done to all of our ISA Sports teams who competed in finals over the weekend.
Congratulations to Benjamin Lau and Jake Robinson, who finished as runners-up in the ISA Tennis Doubles Championships. A fantastic achievement.
Our Touch Football teams also represented the College with pride at the finals held at Macquarie University. A special congratulations to our 1st Girls team, who were crowned Champions, and to our 3rd Girls team, who finished runners-up. An outstanding effort from both teams.
Our 1st XI Cricket team went down narrowly to Oakhill in their semi-final clash at Scots All Saints College.
On Wednesday 25 February, six Scots All Saints students competed in the NSW All Schools Individual Triathlon at the Sydney International Regatta Centre. The event attracted schools from across the state and was a fantastic spectacle to be part of. Well done to Emily and Lucy Tallentire for finishing in the top 10 of CIS in their respective divisions — an exceptional achievement.

Finally, congratulations to Charlotte Shoemark for her outstanding performance at the School Sport Australia 15 & Under Girls Cricket National Championships in Bunbury. Charlotte was selected in the Australian Merit Team after an exceptional tournament, scoring 204 runs at an average of 102. A remarkable achievement and one she should be extremely proud of.
Well done to all students on their efforts and success.
Mr Beau McClintock Director of Sport and Activities
The halfway point of the term has arrived! This week in our K-3 lessons, we reflected on our contribution to ‘Clean Up Australia Day’ last Friday, sharing the books ‘Jelly-Boy’ by Nicole Godwin and Christopher Nielsen and ‘Last Tree in the City’ by Peter Carnavas. We discussed the importance of caring for our environment, thinking about the small ways in which we can all make a difference every day.
A reminder that the Premier’s Reading Challenge has commenced. See Mrs Mackay for more information.
Over on the senior campus, we have been exploring the science fiction genre in our Year 7 library sessions and dystopian fiction in Year 9. Both year groups have been set the challenge of crafting enticing book displays to promote their respective genres. Look out for their creativity on display in the library soon.
A reminder that our senior campus library monitor positions are now open. Keen applicants are advised to watch their emails for the opportunity to apply to contribute to the vibrant library space.
