Sports Representation Pathways

At Scots All Saints College students have the opportunity to participate at a higher level of representation in a number of sports, including hockey, cross country, rugby, swimming, athletics and triathlon.

In recent weeks some of our students have competed at NSW Combined Independent Schools (CIS) competitions, with great results.

The pathway for students to reach CIS level and beyond is challenging and rewarding.

  1. College to AICES, ISA, HICES – Athletes must first represent the College at either Association of Independent Co-Educational Schools (AICES)  or Independent Schools Association (ISA) competitions for Senior students or Heads of Independent Co-Educational Schools (HICES) for Junior students.
  2. AICES, ISA, HICES to NSWCIS – If selected to progress further in their sport, athletes then represent AICES, ISA or HICES at the NSW Combined Independent Schools (CIS) carnivals.
  3. CIS to All Schools – Students who perform to a high level at the CIS carnivals may be selected to represent NSWCIS at a NSW All Schools carnival.
  4. All Schools to SSA – From All Schools some sports then go on to select athletes to represent NSW All Schools (ie NSW State) at a School Sport Australia carnival, where each state and territory may be present.

Outside these established College supported pathways for representation, our student athletes often also pursue progress and development in their chosen sports through other programs and pathways, including Western Region Academy of Sport, Club rugby (for Country and City Championships), Junior Cricket, and District Hockey to name a few.

Recent Representative Achievements

NSW All Schools Cross Country Carnival

Miller Rivett and Angus Argent-Smith represented NSWCIS at the NSW All Schools Cross Country Carnival at the end of week 1 (Term 3), having been progressed to compete at the carnival via the AICES pathway.

We await to see if Miller is selected in the NSW All Schools team to compete at School Sports Australia, Nationals competition.

Congratulations also to Patrick Lenehan from Junior School who represented NSWCIS for Cross Country (via HICES pathway) and came 32nd out of 78 boys in the Primary 8/9yrs age group, with a cracking pace seeing him finish his 2km race in 8mins 13 secs.

We applaud these impressive results from Miller, Angus and Patrick and we acknowledge the dedication and training they have undertaken to get this far. Well done!
