Unearthing Marsden Girls’ School Time Capsule

Celebrating 100 Years Since the Opening of Marsden Girls’ School

On Saturday 27 September the College will host the unearthing of the 1975 Marsden Girls’ School time capsule, an event celebrating 100 years since the opening of Marsden Girls School. 

The time capsule was put down in the Jubilee Year 1975 and was first buried on the Marsden Campus near ‘Sammy’s Ghost Well’, then moved and placed just below the steps to the ‘Senior Lawn’ on the former All Saints’ College Campus (now Scots All Saints Junior School Campus) in 1977 after Marsden Girls’ School closed and merged with All Saints’.  The time capsule remained there ever since and is about to come to light with a ceremony and afternoon tea to celebrate.

The 1975 time capsule contains information which relate to the school at the time.

Marsden Girls’ School and All Saints’ College community and families are warmly invited to the unearthing and afternoon tea activities and take the time to enjoy the museum, looking over the archives and perhaps even helping our Archivists to collect data on the many photos we have which need identifying.

There are many historical artefacts and photos on hand in the museum which we would love to put in order and store for the future.

We welcome alumni and families to bring any photos of their time at school along to share during the afternoon’s activities.

11am – 12 noon: Site of former Marsden Girls’ School (now the Catholic Education Office/Centre of Bathurst Diocese).
