Year 6 student and aspiring soccer goalkeeper Max Banning recently had the opportunity to tour and play in the UK as part of the Global Football Network player pathway program.
Max was selected for the UK tour squad after trialling at Seymour Shaw Stadium at Miranda in the April holidays. He competed against players from Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland.
As part of the Global Football Network UK Tour Squad, Max played against well-known UK football clubs, including Sheffield United, West Bromwich, Burnley, Blackburn, Bradford City, Barnsley, Chester and Bolton.
Along with receiving some expert coaching from the Bolton Academy Goalkeeping Coach, Max had the opportunity to watch a Champions League game between Liverpool and German side Bayer Leverkusen, an EFL Championship game between West Bromwich Albion F.C and Burnley and a game featuring EFL League 1 team Wrexham AFC, who have become well known for their docuseries Welcome to Wrexham.
Max also had the chance to tour some of the big stadiums for clubs such as Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspurs FC.
