Cattle Team excel at Blayney Show

Our Cattle Show Team participated in our first show of the season over the weekend at the Blayney Show. It is always a steep learning curve for our new members, both students and cattle!

This year, we decided to arrive a day earlier due to the large size of our team, which included 28 steers and 36 students. Our steers once again dominated the classes, thanks to the incredible support from our breeders and the hard work our students put into preparing them.

Our steers took 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the lightweight, middleweight and heavyweight classes. This meant that in the champion class, all three animals were exhibited by our team and in the end, the heavyweight steer, paraded by Marcus Wythes, took out Supreme Champion with our Middleweight winner, S8, paraded by Fraser Wythes, taking out Reserve Champion. These steers were bred by the Kirk family and Summit Livestock.

Paraders saw around 100 competitors, with our students performing extremely well. We had some exceptional results, and a huge congratulations to Marcus Stanley for taking out Champion Parader, with Fraser Gill being awarded Reserve Champion! Well done to these talented young men.

A huge thank you must go to all of the students for their amazing teamwork and support of one another. They work very hard, and their hard work has paid off. I am extremely proud of each and every one of them.

We must thank our breeders, as without the wonderful cattle they supply us, these results would not happen. The Kirk family, Summit Livestock, Goldstein Limousins, the Mawhood family and Tattykeel Angus have given our students a wonderful opportunity to work with such quality cattle.

As always, we must thank Bruce Inwood for all of the behind-the-scenes work he does – he truly makes a difference!

We are two weeks away from the Royal Sydney Show, and we will be very excited to get there and exhibit our steers.
