Head of College - Mr Richard Ford

We warmly welcome all students and families back for what promises to be a rewarding term. We look forward to supporting students to finish the year strongly and gathering for Celebration on Friday 4 December 2026, where we will recognise the growth and accomplishment of students this year.

A sincere thank you to our wonderful Parents’ and Friends’ Association for their enthusiasm and hard work in organising this afternoon’s Colour Run. Events such as these do far more than raise funds; they bring our community together, create lasting memories for our students and add a great deal of fun. We are incredibly grateful to the volunteers, families and staff who have contributed their time and support. We hope all participants enjoy a terrific afternoon of colour, laughter and community spirit.

A reminder that registrations are now open for our upcoming Leadership Lunch with Christian Beck next Friday, 23 October 2026. This promises to be an engaging and thought-provoking event, offering valuable insights into leadership, innovation and entrepreneurship. We encourage parents, alumni and members of the wider community to take advantage of this opportunity to hear from an inspiring past student over lunch. If you have not yet registered, do secure your place here and join us for what promises to be a memorable event.

As we look ahead to next weekend, parents who may be past students of The Scots School Bathurst are reminded of the 80 Year Celebrations. This significant milestone provides an opportunity to reconnect with old friends, celebrate the rich history of the school and reflect on the generations of people who have shaped its story. Information about registration for part or all of the weekend’s activities can be found here.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we launch into Term 4.

This week we welcomed our Senior School students back after their two-week break. For our Year 12s, this is the start of their HSC exams, the culmination of two years of study, and we wish them all the success they deserve for their hard work and preparation. The rest of our students have a wide variety of classes and activities to look forward to, including a number of end-of-year events in late November and early December.

It was exciting to have all staff together for our Professional Development Day on Monday 12 October, particularly with the launch of our proposed new timetable structure for 2027. This project has been running for the last 18 months, headed by Emily Shanahan, our Deputy Head of College, and we’ll be providing more details in the coming weeks.

The outcome will be a better structure for both staff and students, with some innovative additions that will also allow us to review our pastoral care systems. We have a very experienced group of staff who will be working this term on what those pastoral care structures will be, and I’m looking forward to updating our community with information about how we are building on what we already do to know and look after each young person on our campus.

With summer sport starting soon, and a range of community events on our calendar including the P&F Colour Run today and the end-of-year Celebration Day on 4 December, I look forward to catching up with many of you on the sidelines or in the audience.

Central West Rugby 7s State Championships

During the term break, four students represented Central West Rugby 7s at the State Championships in Mudgee. Congratulations to Vesper Pearce, Harriet Brabin, Charlotte Yates and Lolita Barrett on this fantastic achievement.

The championships provided a wonderful opportunity for the girls to test themselves against teams from across the state. The Under 17 team finished on a high, defeating Central North in the 5th and 6th place playoff.

Well done, girls, on a fantastic effort!

The preseason for summer sports has now concluded, and we look forward to the commencement of competition fixtures.
