During the first week of the holidays, some of our equestrian students represented the College at the NSW State Interschool Championships at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre in Horsley Park.
Our youngest competitor, Phoebe Marr won the Primary Preliminary Dressage Champion, Primary 60cm Combined Training Champion and Primary 45cm Combined Training Reserve Champion. Phoebe’s results mean she will represent NSW at the 2024 Australian Interschool Championships.
Hayden Marr was 5th Intermediate Preliminary Dressage, 4th in the Secondary 60cm Combined Training and he won his Intermediate Show Horse Rider class.
Marni Thompson competed in show horse with horses Argyl Mirage getting 7th overall and Whitmere San Sebastián getting reserve champion. This also means she will represent NSW at the 2024 Australian Interschool Championships. Marni also competed in dressage where she received 1st in the 1.2 and 6th in the 1.3 as well as CT getting 5th in the dressage and 7th in the show jumping.
Victoria Wythes competed on her young mare, Pipersrun Black Rose, in the Secondary Novice Dressage Championship and the Secondary 60 cm Combined Training. Their pair held their own against some very stiff competition – Victoria has put a lot of work into this new young mare, and they have only very recently begun jumping and to jump clean is a wonderful achievement. Victoria must be commended on her achievements with this beautiful mare.
Both Marni and Victoria have been having regular showjumping lessons with our wonderful coach, Jennifer Wood, at the College Equestrian Centre and are both looking forward to joining another 25 of our riders at the North West Equestrian Expo in Coonabarabran in late May.
